[Salon] Genocide is a red line

    FM: John Whitbeck

Some of my American distinguished recipients may find the polling numbers cited in the message from Jill Stein's presidential campaign transmitted below of interest.

It has inspired me to convey two "truisms", at least for me, which are rarely cited during political campaigns.

First, the argument trumpeted by supporters of a major party candidate that a vote for a third-party candidate is effectively a vote for the other major party candidate is rubbish. Having voted for four different third-party presidential candidates (including, last week, for Jill Stein for the third time), I am convinced that the alternative for the overwhelming majority of those who vote for a third-party candidate with no conceivable chance of being elected is not voting at all (my choice in 2020, when Jill was not a candidate).

My second "truism" flows from the first. Since no individual, even among those voting in one of the seven "battleground" states for which the result is not certain in advance, can  seriously believe that his or her one vote could determine who is elected president, the only reason for voting is for the moral and/or emotional satisfaction which one derives from     the values and convictions reflected in one's vote, and there is precious little such satisfaction to be derived from voting for the "lesser evil" of two candidates with whom one disagrees profoundly on the issues, values and convictions of greatest importance to you.

John,

In a new poll released by the Yaqeen Institute, Kamala and Trump are polling terribly with Muslim Americans, with less than 25% support between the two of them and more than 52% saying they will vote for “someone else.” And, as we know from the recent Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) poll, the “someone else” that Muslim Americans prefer is Jill Stein. In the CAIR results from a month ago, Jill polled evenly with Kamala with 29%, while the closest other anti-genocide candidate had only 4.2% support. Notably, Jill is leading Kamala in Muslim American support in three battleground states: Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

It’s fair to say that Jill and Butch’s numbers are skyrocketing with Muslim Americans and other demographics. Another example: just a few days ago, polling from New Hampshire showed 7% of 18-34 year olds are supporting Jill.

We expect this momentum to continue. Abandon Harris, formerly Abandon Biden, announced that they endorsed Jill and Butch yesterday. That news was reported everywhere; our historic campaign is breaking through the media blackout. Which means our numbers will keep growing.

We are also promoting our new video “We have the power” and the reception has been amazing. But we are still $5,000 short of our goal to spread Jill and Butch’s message of people, planet and peace to voters across the country.
